36-year-old Swift was inducted during a ceremony in New York on Thursday evening, ABC News reports.
"It was instinctive. Nobody taught me how to do it," Swift said of her songwriting.
The youngest person ever to be inducted into the Hall of Fame was Stevie Wonder, who was inducted at age 33 in 1983.
Other inductees include Kiss founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, Alanis Morissette, and Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty, who was also given a special award.
