Swift was on site to see her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs try to win their third consecutive NFL title.
But unlike last year, the superstar received a rather chilly reception from the audience. Swift rolled her eyes and wrinkled her nose when she realized that the boos from the Philadelphia Eagle fans were directed at her.
Philadelphia dominated
Neither did Kansas City star Kelce have a good evening. Philadelphia dominated the match and crushed the previous champions with 40–22.
We haven't played this badly all season. We simply couldn't find that spark, says Travis Kelce after the loss, according to AFP.
It was different during last year's Super Bowl in Las Vegas. That evening ended with Swift stealing the show, being hailed by the audience, and giving Kelce a victory kiss after Kansas City defeated San Francisco with 25–22 in an unlikely thriller.
If the Chiefs had won this year, the team would have become the first to win three consecutive Super Bowls. That didn't happen.
For Philadelphia's quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was named the final's most valuable player, the victory was a sweet revenge after the loss to Kansas City two years ago.
Going through what I did then, trying to process those feelings, lit something within me. It made my desire to win grow even stronger, says Hurts according to AP.
Trump in the audience
The audience was star-studded. As the first sitting president ever, Donald Trump was present, one of the 65,719 in the stands.
I think it's a great honor, regardless of who is president, said Travis Kelce before the final at one of the week's press conferences.
During the match, Trump published two videos on his platform Truth Social, showing how the audience cheers for him, but boos at Swift.
"The only one who had a tougher night than Kansas City was Taylor Swift. She got booed at the stadium. Maga (Make America Great Again) is unforgiving," Trump also writes on Truth Social.
Tennis star came to the rescue
Tennis star Serena Williams, who appeared as a dancer during rapper Kendrick Lamar's performance in the halftime show, came to Swift's defense.
"I love you Taylor Swift, don't listen to those boos!!", Williams wrote on X.
Trump's relationship to the NFL is not entirely unproblematic. In 2017, he criticized players in the league who knelt against social injustices during the national anthem.
