Parts of the arena at Madison Square Garden in New York had been transformed into a forest for the event, with ferns and trees, a witness told People magazine.
It took the couple 20 minutes just to say their vows, which they read from small gold books. Guests were given hand-embroidered handkerchiefs to wipe away tears.
After the ceremony, Paul McCartney sang the Beatles song “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” Italian snacks and sushi were served, and despite bars “everywhere,” the crowd was reportedly large.
Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez and Tom Hanks were among the celebrities who attended the wedding.
"It was their dream wedding, and it was truly amazing," Michael Strahan, host and former American football player, told ABC News.
