The title roughly translates to "The Parrot's Choice," and the word "popinjay" (parrot) is used to describe a talkative parrot.
The play is set in Europe in the 1830s and is described as a comedy and a tribute to the art of theater, told with Tarantino's "unmistakable wit," according to the press release.
"The Popinjay Cavalier" will premiere in early 2027, but it is still unclear which theater will stage it. Tarantino currently lives in Tel Aviv but will move to London with his family while work on the production continues.
