After winning her opening match in the 48-kilogram class against Turkey's Sila Ersin, Babulfath lost her next match to Shafag Hamidova of Azerbaijan.
Now a repechage awaits Babulfath, who won Olympic bronze in Paris - Sweden's first Olympic judo medal. In the first repechage match she faces Russia's Marina Vorobeva.
If Babulfath wins through the repechage, she could win a bronze medal.
The European Championship will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
