It will be decided on 23-27 April and national team captain Viktor Carlsson has hopes.
"Everyone on the team has shown that they have the capacity to beat the best. Now it's about getting the final preparations in place, influencing what we can influence and taking one match at a time," he says in a press release.
The team:
Tara Babulfath, 48 kg
Ranked third in the world in her class. Despite being only 19 years old, she has already established herself in the world elite. Eriksson qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris but lost the last Swedish Olympic spot to her compatriot Marcus Nyman. Among her recent top results are a silver medal at the Grand Prix in Linz (2025) and two fifth places at the Grand Slam in Tbilisi (2025) and Tokyo (2024).
Karl Bååthe, 100 kg
A promising talent who impressed with a seventh place at the Grand Slam in Tbilisi, where the 23-year-old, among other things, defeated the reigning European Champion and Olympic Games silver medalist from Paris, Georgian Ilia Sulamanidze.
