Swimming talent Olivia Klint Ipsa crushed her personal record on 100 meters breaststroke in the World Championship – but was eliminated anyway.
The 19-year-old from Kristianstad, who took two European Championship bronzes last summer, swam at 1.05,13 and beat her personal record by 63 hundredths in her World Championship debut.
But 16 hundredths were missing for an advancement to Wednesday evening's semifinal.
Instead, teammate Sophie Hansson took the last semifinal spot at 1.04,97.
Sweden advanced with the second-best time in the mixed 4x50 meter medley relay.
The quartet Louise Hansson, Daniel Kertes, Sara Junevik, and Elias Persson recorded 1.37,28 and were two hundredths behind Canada, who was the fastest.
Junevik also advanced to the semifinal on 100 meters freestyle with the 13th time, 52,84.
