Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting will not participate in the World Championship in Liverpool, 4–14 September. Lin Yu-Ting is reported to have undergone gender testing but has not received any response from the international boxing federation World Boxing.
"We cannot let the athlete travel to the United Kingdom without any guarantees”, says the Taiwanese boxing federation according to a local news agency.
Lin Yu-Ting, just like Algerian Imane Kheif, took Olympic Games gold in Paris last year. The duo became the target of a heated debate about gender affiliation and ahead of this year's World Championship, World Boxing has introduced requirements for gender testing.
Kheif has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas, while it has been reported that Lin has agreed to undergo gender testing.
