"After further examinations, I have been informed that I need surgery following my recent crash. After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to end my professional racing career," says Woffinden.
The 35-year-old crashed badly in the spring of 2025, suffering multiple fractures, losing a lot of blood and being put into a medically induced coma. The Briton fought back, but in May of this year there was another crash in Poland.
I don't think there is a perfect moment, but in the end you realize that your body has given what it has to give, and you can leave with pride, gratitude and satisfaction with the decision, he says.
In Sweden, Woffinden has competed for Vargarna, Dackarna, Masarna and Västervik, among others. He became world champion in speedway three times.
