The record sum of $50.1 million was hammered down after a 10-minute bidding process between seven bidders. The buyer is anonymous.

The skeleton of "Gus" was found by rancher Gary "Gus" Licking in South Dakota in 2021. It is considered one of the world's most complete T-rex fossils and consists of 183 bones.

Two years ago, an almost complete Stegosaurus skeleton was sold for around the equivalent of 470 million kronor.
