A court in the German capital has sentenced a 20-year-old man to 13 years in prison for attempted murder, aggravated assault and attempted membership in a terrorist organization.
The perpetrator committed the crime on behalf of IS, Chairwoman Doris Husch said.
“The victim only survived because the defendant missed major blood vessels by a few millimeters,” the judge said.
Before the trial, the court announced that the convicted person intended to “target a person of Jewish faith.”
The 30-year-old Spaniard was visiting the memorial with two friends and was seriously injured, but managed to get out of the concrete blocks before collapsing.
