The situation in the camp is unclear after reports on Tuesday that Kurdish forces had abandoned the site. It has previously been feared that, if the camps in the area are left unattended, IS members could flee and gather their relatives in an attempt to create a stable new base for the terrorist movement.
Fighting has raged in recent weeks between the Kurdish-led SDF and the army of interim president Ahmad al-Sharaa, after negotiations to merge the armed forces failed.
The parties have now declared a new ceasefire.
Thousands of women and children from dozens of countries, including Sweden, have been held in al-Hol.
