One person was killed and dozens injured in the explosions that occurred during a visit by President Emmanuel Macron. Macron had managed to leave the hotel near the site where one of the bombs exploded.
Macron met with his Syrian counterpart Ahmed al-Sharaa. He is the first EU head of state to visit Syria since the fall of former dictator Bashar al-Assad in 2024.
