A new Syrian government will be in place on March 1, claims the country's interim Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.

The government that will be presented on March 1 will represent the Syrian people to the highest degree possible and take its diversity into account, says al-Shaibani at a conference in the United Arab Emirates.

Syria's leader Ahmed al-Sharaa said at the beginning of February that he believes it will take up to five years to plan and execute an election in the country. This, among other things, with the infrastructure in war-torn Syria in mind.

The former rebel leader of the Islamist HTS, who overthrew President Bashar al-Assad and his regime in December, was elected by militant commanders as interim president in January.
