Manzambi started by setting up Ruben Vargas' 1–0 goal in the 46th minute. Ten minutes later, he was responsible for the goal himself when he made it 2–0 after a great pass from Breel Embolo.

Canada pulled one back with fifteen minutes left when substitute Promise David tapped in on Nathan Saliba's fine pass. But the host nation didn't get any closer than that.

With the victory, Switzerland wins Group B with seven points, ahead of Canada with four.

The parallel match in Group B between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Qatar ended 3–1. The result means that Bosnia-Herzegovina, which also has four points but a worse goal difference than Canada, advances as one of the eight best third-placed teams. With their current points tally, the country has passed Sweden as the best current third-placed team.
