Switzerland impressively defeated the USA 3-0 in the group stage match of the World Championship. Goalkeeper veteran Leonardo Genoni, 37, saved all of the USA's 23 shots.
Switzerland, which is chasing its first-ever World Championship gold, has not lost any match in regular time in Herning, Denmark, where Group B is being held. In the premiere against reigning champion Czech Republic, it was a loss after overtime, 4-5.
For the USA, Monday's loss to Switzerland was the first in this year's World Championship.
Last year, Switzerland was in the World Championship final and lost to the host nation Czech Republic, which earlier in the tournament eliminated the USA in the quarterfinal.
