The Central Bank of Switzerland continues to lower the interest rate. Today's reduction of 0.25 percentage points means that the interest rate is now at exactly 0.25 percent, the lowest level since September 2022.
From the Central Bank's perspective, the interest rate cuts are an attempt to counteract the strengthening of the Swiss currency (Swiss franc) against other currencies. The country is also struggling with a development opposite to that of many other nations, namely a very weak inflation trend. In February, inflation stood at 0.3 percent, the lowest figure in almost four years.
