20-year-old Manzambi has been one of the biggest breakthroughs of the World Cup. After three goals and an assist in the group stage, it was time for the Freiburg midfielder to make his mark for Switzerland once again.

Already in the tenth minute, he beat the defence on his own and set up Breel Embolo to make it 1-0. It was Manzambi's ninth point in 16 international matches.

After the break, Switzerland scored again. Dan Ndoye stayed ahead and made it 2-0, which stood the test of time.

Switzerland secured a place in the play-offs after winning Group B ahead of host nation Canada. Algeria finished third in Group J behind Argentina and Austria, but advanced to the play-offs as one of the top three group finishers.

Switzerland will now face the winner of the match between Colombia and Ghana.
