The 42-year-old woman - the wife of an employee at the Swiss embassy in Abuja - fell ill after a trip to Uganda with her husband. Her condition is described as stable.
“But that does not mean she is no longer contagious,” Nigeria’s Health Minister Ali Pate said in a statement.
The woman is Nigeria's only confirmed Ebola case in the ongoing outbreak, which is centered in Congo-Kinshasa. Experts are concerned that more than two weeks passed between the woman's arrival in Nigeria and her diagnosis. So far, more than 50 people have been identified as potential contacts of the infected person.
In Congo-Kinshasa, more than 4,600 people have died in the outbreak since May.
