The Winter Olympics have their first gold medalist. Swiss skier Franjo von Allmen won the men's downhill in Bormio. Italy took both silver and bronze.

The 24-year-old Swiss Olympic debutant won in a time of 1:51.61, 0.20 and 0.50 seconds respectively ahead of home skaters Giovanni Franzoni and Dominik Paris, who took silver and bronze.

"It feels great. Being able to give back to the supporters means a lot," says Dominik Paris in SVT's broadcast.

The bronze medal is the 36-year-old veteran's first at the Olympics.
