Who will stop Iga Swiatek from a third consecutive title in the French Open?
Russian Anastasia Potapova was not even close.
The Polish world number one won 6–0, 6–0.
Swiatek won the French Open in tennis in 2020, 2022, and 2023. The 23-year-old Pole is now just three wins away from a fourth title in the classic Grand Slam tournament in Paris.
The question is whether she even had time to warm up her clothes when the quarterfinal spot was secured on Sunday. In just 40 minutes, she had swept the Russian Anastasia Potapova and won in straight sets without losing a single game, 6–0, 6–0.
Maybe Iga Swiatek also wanted to conserve energy on the Philippe Chatrier central court after Novak Djokovic, the men's star, won a five-set match in the third round after 4.5 hours of play a few hours earlier. The match ball hit the Serb at 03:08 in the morning.
In the quarterfinals, Swiatek faces reigning Wimbledon champion Markéta Vondroušová after the Czech woman defeated Olga Danilović, Serbia, in two straight sets, 6–4, 6–2.
