Emma Lette continues to dominate on the jujutsu mat. Now the 23-year-old Swede can also call herself world champion. “I'm still trying to understand that it's true,” Lette says after winning the World Championship gold.

The victory in the +70 kg fighting class came after a dramatic final against Anja Guercke. The German was leading 12–8 when time ran out, but the Swedish team then demanded a video review of an incident in the match where Guercke was given points for an armlock.

The protest was successful, and instead the gold went to Emma Lette with 11–10.

"It feels so good. After a perhaps somewhat exciting final, it feels incredibly good to take home the gold," says Emma Lette in a press release.

The World Championships in Bangkok will be held just one month after the European Championships. There, Lette also won gold in the +70 kg class.

There were also two Swedish World Championship silver medals on Wednesday. Both Alicia Johansson (–70 kg) and Arash Hadiha (–56 kg), also in the fighting discipline, lost their finals.

In total, Sweden won one gold, three silver and four bronze medals during the jujutsu World Championships, where they compete in the fighting and newaza disciplines.
