The world's best university remains Oxford, which tops the rankings for the eleventh year in a row. It is followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US, followed by other British and American universities.

In eleventh place is China's Tsinghua University, which has overtaken the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, ETH. This means that Tsinghua is ranked higher than all leading universities on the European mainland.

The best in Sweden is Karolinska Institutet in 55th place, two places lower than last year. Lund University and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) also fall back, and this year end up outside the top 100. Uppsala University also loses a number of places.
