Development was affected by the fact that world trade was shocked by the Trump administration's tariffs in early April.
The value of exports of goods from Sweden fell by 7 percent in April and by 1 percent in volume compared to April last year. Imports also decreased, down by 7 percent in value and 2 percent in volume, according to SCB.
There was also a clear decline in exports compared to the previous month, with a minus of 8 percent in both value and volume. At the same time, imports fell by 7 percent in value and 6 percent in volume compared to March, according to SCB.
In a separate report, SCB reports a surplus in Sweden's trade with the rest of the world of 3.9 billion kronor in May – a decline from 6.2 billion in April and from 10.6 billion in May 2024.
In total, the value of goods exports in May amounted to 169.6 billion kronor, while the value of goods imports amounted to 165.7 billion.
