The plan was not carried out. Swedish police contacted their Norwegian colleagues after going through a 16-year-old boy's phone and finding messages indicating that he had taken on a contract killing.
According to the police in Norway, the Swedish boy was intended to murder a 30-year-old man serving a sentence at Bastøy prison. It is an open institution located on a small island outside the town of Moss in southern Oslofjord, about five miles from the Swedish border.
The plan was to take the life of the inmate outside the prison, says investigation leader Fredrik Johannessen to NRK.
It appears that he (the 16-year-old) has been in Norway.
The police believe that the murder was ordered by individuals within heavily criminal circles in Norway.
The Swedish boy is now 17 years old and was recently sentenced to three years of closed youth care in Sweden, among other things for attempted murder. In Norway, he is now suspected of equivalent preparation for murder.
