The clock had ticked far into extra time when Atlético Madrid was awarded a penalty and could equalize in Thursday's qualifying rematch against Häcken. The match therefore went to extra time where Atlético then decided and thus crushed BK Häcken's dream of playing in the Champions League.
The Gothenburg team must instead be content with playing in the new tournament Europa Cup, which is introduced this season.
There, Häcken enters the second qualifying round, and on Friday, they were drawn to meet Polish champion team GKS Katowice. The winner of the double meeting advances to the quarterfinals.
Both Hammarby and Rosengård play Europa Cup and enter the same round. For Hammarby, Norwegian Brann awaits, while Rosengård gets to take on Portuguese Sporting Lissabon.
Both Häcken and Hammarby start at home. Rosengård starts away.
The first matches are played on 7-8 October with rematches on 15-16 October.
