"The counterparties are still not willing to enter into an agreement on concrete regulations of teachers' time for planning and follow-up and not even a maximum limit for the number of teaching hours", says Anna Olskog, chairman of the Swedish Teachers' Union, in a press release.
Jeanette Hedberg, chief negotiator for SKR, says that the main reason why the parties cannot agree is a government inquiry into teachers' working hours.
"There are many different questions and conditions on the negotiating table, but since the legislator's process for potential regulations of teachers' working hours is not clear, we and the Swedish Teachers' Union need to wait and take our responsibility when we have the prerequisites clear for us", she says in a press release.
The agreement covers around 220,000 people. The current collective agreement expired on March 31.
