The Swedish table tennis stars Kristian Karlsson and Stina Källberg are forced to withdraw from the major tournament in Singapore. The pair would have played the quarterfinals in mixed doubles, but Källberg has sustained a foot injury, reports SVT.
In the men's doubles tournament, however, Karlsson and Mattias Falck are through to the quarterfinals. They won 3–0 in sets against Leonardo Iizuka, Japan, and Hwan Bae, Australia, in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, they will face the Chinese players Wang Chuqin and Lin Shidong, who are ranked as number one and two in the world in singles.
For Linda Bergström, it's game over in the singles tournament. The Swede put up a strong performance against world number one Qian Tianyi, but the Chinese player won in the second round with 3–0 in sets (11–7, 12–10, 11–8).
