Swedish Table Tennis Federation to recruit new national team captain by job ad

The Swedish Table Tennis Federation's national captain Marcus Sjöberg will take on a new coaching role in the federation. A replacement will be sought through a job advertisement to be published shortly, the Swedish Table Tennis Federation said in a press release.

According to the association, both Marcus Sjöberg and assistant national captain Peter Blomqvist have expressed a desire to work with younger players in the future.

"I am incredibly proud of the two years I have had as national team captain for the seniors," says Sjöberg.

Sjöberg will move into a role as assistant national coach, with his main task being to work on an U23 project.

Blomqvist will work with mini-cadets on the men's side, but will be acting captain of the women's national team during the European Championship in October.

Tobias Bergman recently stepped down as women's captain and a replacement is expected to be announced later in August.
