Starting next year, more Swedes will be allowed to compete in Sweden's top league. Each team must have at least three Svemo-licensed drivers, of whom at least one must be U21.

"We are aware that having a larger proportion of young Swedish drivers for a few years may mean that the sporting level will be somewhat lower. It is a price we are prepared to pay to build a stronger Swedish speedway in the long term," says Mikael Holmstrand, chairman of the Swedish Motorsport Association Svemo, in a statement.

The investment is taking place at the same time as a new agreement has been signed with Poland, which secures access to top international drivers and creates stable conditions for Swedish speedway.
