Domeij was employed as a women's coach in the national team in the spring of 2023 and signed a four-year contract. However, the national team has chosen to exercise the option to terminate the contract already now.
"We have not been able to shape Andreas' role linked to the women's team as desired. We have not succeeded in creating an environment where he can utilize his strengths and have therefore come to the conclusion that a change is needed moving forward", says Anders Byström in a press release.
The Swedish female cross-country skiers achieved success at the World Championship in Trondheim earlier this year by taking home all six gold medals, plus two additional bronze medals. In total, Sweden left the championship with eleven medals.
Heading into the next season, with the Olympic Games in Milano and Cortina as the major goal, Stefan Thomson is currently the only coach on the women's side.
"The goal is to have a world-class national team and it is therefore important that we continuously evaluate how we can develop both ourselves as staff and the organization as a whole. We have an Olympic season ahead of us and will do everything to create good conditions to perform there", says Anders Byström.
