She feels good in life aside from athletics. Then the shot put has also become better. It is important that all pieces are in place, says Fanny Roos ahead of the Tokyo World Championship, where she on Saturday has qualification and possible final the same day.

For just over two years ago, Roos moved from Växjö down to Malmö. Together with her partner Daniel Ståhl, they got a small and cramped apartment through a rental company - and it became the first step towards a change.

With coach Staffan Jönsson, the 30-year-old's development has taken off.

It feels like we have found how I should throw, a good way to think, she says.

Then we have a lot of fun in the training group, I thrive with the training, in the squad and in life...

Toughest and bravest

Life on the side together with a dynamic in the training group - where it is important to be oneself - has given longer distances. Nowadays, she is often over 19 meters and in the spring she also set a Swedish record at 19.66 meters.

Coach Staffan Jönsson, who also trains discus star Daniel Ståhl and shot putter Wictor Petersson:

It fits in with this group thinking we have and that she is in the place she wants to be in her life, and feels good there, he says.

Jönsson is also on the fact that Roos "feels good" physically and technically, and that they have stopped experimenting and instead choose a few things to get continuity.

She does what we want to do often technically - and then it becomes easier.

"Power woman"

One who has also seen the development up close is of course her partner Ståhl.

She has developed as a person and also become a more power woman in the industry, seen in Diamond League competitions and championships, he says.

She has been lying on making qualifying throws for many years, but that little extra has been missing. Now she is almost reaching 20 meters. I have believed and seen this for several years and then it comes, right out of the blue, and it's really cool.

How is she doing?

I do not want to put pressure... I want her to throw really far, that's all I want to say. Placement and such things I do not say. I want her to feel good, be ready and just blow on, says Daniel Ståhl.
