High jumper Engla Nilsson is ending her indoor season early. The 20-year-old shooting star says she must prioritize her physical and mental health.

"It hurts to tell you this, but I will not be competing again this season. It is a tough decision to make, but something that must be done," she writes on Instagram.

Engla Nilsson broke through last winter when she took bronze at the European Indoor Championships. She continued to jump well this summer, even though she missed the final at the World Championships in Tokyo.

This indoor season, the results have not been there.

"I need to prioritize both my physical and mental health before I can start performing at my peak level again. I'm already looking forward to competing outdoors this summer," she writes.
