He broke the Swedish record in the 400-meter freestyle trials. Victor Johansson finished fifth in the European Championship final. It's close, not even a second away from a medal, Johansson tells SVT.

The 27-year-old Swedish swimmer improved his own Swedish short course record by 1.6 seconds when he swam in 3.37.73 in the trials at the European Short Course Championships in Lublin, Poland.

In the final it was slightly slower, 3.37.92.

Britain's Jack McMillan won in 3:36.33. Olympic gold medalist over the distance, German Lukas Märtens, came second (3:36.51) and Irishman Daniel Wiffen, the reigning European champion, came third (3:37.02).
