The aim is to stop scam advertisements that use the names and employees of Swedish media companies by criminal actors.
"Meta's advertising operations, which are linked to fraud, affect innocent people and damage the credibility of the media and well-known journalists who are exploited," says James Savage, the Publishers' chairman, in a press release.
The publishers are now hiring the law firm TimeDanowsky to investigate whether a Swedish or foreign court can stop Meta.
Meta and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg have previously been reported to the police. The publishers have also made demands directly to Meta but say in the press release that nothing has happened.
The publishers include SVT, Swedish Radio, and the Newspaper Publishers.
