Swedish privacy authority investigates Public Employment Service’s AI system for assessing benefits

Does the Swedish Public Employment Service violate job seekers’ privacy by assessing them with AI systems? The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) will investigate.

The Swedish Public Employment Service uses an AI system to assess the benefits unemployed people should receive. IMY is now reviewing whether this is legal.

“We will review how the AI system works and how the Swedish Public Employment Service informs job seekers about how their personal data is processed by it,” IMY writes in a press release.
