At the beginning of the year, SVT Nyheter Skåne revealed how, among other things, people convicted of sex crimes have on several occasions been allowed to do their community service at places with activities for children and young people.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is now tightening its rules. No criminal - regardless of the crime - should be allowed to serve their sentence where they risk coming into contact with children.
Instead, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding its “community cleaning” activities. The collaboration with Keep Sweden Tidy means that convicts will instead pick up trash.
