Swedish police ordered to set national rules on protective equipment or face fine

Today, the allocation of items such as body armour, helmets and gloves differs between police regions because the issue has been decentralised, writes Polistidningen.

But after the Swedish Police Federation's national chief safety representative, Patrik Danielsson, requested an injunction, the Swedish Work Environment Authority has now decided that national rules must be developed by March at the latest. Otherwise, a fine of two million kronor will be imposed.

Danielsson hopes it will be ready this autumn:

This is urgent, given the current situation. I expect the employer to handle this in a good way, promptly and in collaboration with us.
