During the last training session before the trip to Birmingham, the 19-year-old broke his pole, fell awkwardly onto the mat and landed badly.
"My wrist got hit when the pole broke and I landed a little awkwardly, so my back and neck became a little stiff," says Oliver Sandberg in a press release.
"Now I'm going to focus on getting fit."
Sandberg was due to compete in the European Championships together with William Asker and Armand Duplantis.
