Calgary's Swedish center and team captain Mikael Backlund picked up several points in tonight's home win against Los Angeles.
A little over ten minutes into the second period, the 35-year-old scored the game's first goal, when he, after picking up the puck, sent an unassisted wrist shot over Los Angeles goalkeeper Darcy Kuemper's left shoulder.
Barely a minute later, teammate Jonathan Huberdeau extended the lead to 2–0, whereupon Los Angeles' Trevor Moore reduced the lead in the end of the third period.
But with only seconds left to play, the Swede was in for yet another point. After an assist from Backlund, Kevin Rooney could score a final goal in an empty net, and Calgary won 3–1.
