Alexander Isak's incredible goal form continues. The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in five league matches in December, without ever leaving the pitch goalless.
At home against Aston Villa, the Newcastle striker's goal came in the 59th minute and meant 2–0. Jacob Murphy played the ball in from the right flank, Isak was in the right place at the right time and easily scored his eleventh league goal of the season.
Newcastle took an early grip on the match when Anthony Gordon scored 1–0 in the second minute. Aston Villa's uphill battle then became even steeper when Jhon Durán was sent off with a red card after just over half an hour.
After Isak's goal, Joelinton added to the score, making it 3–0, which was the final result.
Meanwhile, the success continues for Nottingham Forest – and the team's Swedish player Anthony Elanga. The speedy winger has found his form and scored a goal in his third consecutive match at home against Tottenham.
Elanga sprinted forward on the right flank and calmly scored 1–0 in the 28th minute, the only goal of the match.
This also means that Dejan Kulusevski's streak – scoring in three consecutive PL matches – came to an end. Kulusevski got blue and yellow company when Lucas Bergvall was substituted in in the 64th minute, but the struggling Tottenham, with Swedish players, is not even in the top half of the table.
The situation is more enjoyable for Nottingham, now third in the Premier League and only one point behind second-placed Chelsea. This after Chelsea unexpectedly lost (1–2) in the derby at home against Fulham. Rodrigo Muniz scored the winning goal in the fifth minute of added time.
Corrected version: In an earlier version, there was an incorrect goal scorer in Newcastle's 3–0 match.
