Swedish Pension Increase Criticized as Insufficient by Unions

The Swedish Trade Union Confederation is critical of the stingy message about a gas in the pension system. It gives too little to the pensioners. A hundred kronor per month is too little, thinks PRO.

”It is a betrayal against workers who have been involved in building our country. They could have received more money here and now from the pension system”, says LO's chairman Johan Lindholm in a written comment.

The trade union organization thinks that the politicians have set the level too high, 15 percent, for when surplus is to be paid out. A lower limit would have given several billion kronor more to pensioners.

The pensioners' organization PRO is on the same track. The level is set too high.

”Today's message is not enough to realize the significantly increased pension that PRO wants to see”, says chairman Åsa Lindestam in a press release.

The pension increase only gives about a hundred kronor more per month, she points out.
