"According to the Education Act, preschool and after-school care must be offered to the extent necessary, taking into account, among other things, the parents' gainful employment," said the Chief Justice Ombudsman, Erik Nymansson, in a press release.

The decision comes after a complaint against Kungsör Municipality, which intended to close for six days in the 2025/2026 school year, a period the Ombudsman considers too long.

In the press release, the Ombudsman says that the need for planning and training is understandable, but that operations must not remain closed for an excessive period.
