A Swedish professional officer died in an accident during training in Austria, the Swedish Armed Forces said in a press release.

The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the man was hit by a falling block of ice while climbing. He belonged to the Norrland Dragoon Regiment K4.

"Our colleague was a much-loved comrade and a role model for many. We are now fully focused on supporting his family and loved ones as well as comrades at K4," said Colonel Fredrik Andersson, head of K4, in a statement.

According to the Armed Forces, the man was in Austria to undergo “further training.” Another person of a different nationality was injured by the falling ice blocks and is being treated in hospital.
