Swedish NHL goalie Filip Gustavsson will undergo hip surgery after Minnesota's season ended.
The procedure will take place "as soon as possible" and is intended to repair damage from general wear and tear, not to address any specific injury that occurred during the playoffs, Minnesota general manager Bill Guerin said.
Gustavsson signed a five-year contract with Minnesota last fall, worth a total of $34 million.
