The 49-year-old from Södertälje was appointed as Chicago's temporary coach when the previous coach Luke Richardson was fired on Thursday.
Part of me feels that I'm ready, he says and adds:
But there's always a part that I'm sure I need to learn as I go along.
Sörensen's premiere match, against Winnipeg, is played on Saturday evening. And there's a lot to work on. Chicago is last in NHL and has lost four matches in a row.
I thought I'd take care of some things in the defensive zone, the most important thing is that we need to enjoy the competitive aspect of the game and get going in that way, says Sörensen to reporters after Friday's training.
A priority is to get 19-year-old super talent Connor Bedard, who was drafted as number one in 2023, in his right form.
We all see what he can do when he has the puck on his stick. We need to find a way for him to get the puck moving. That's the most important thing right now.
Bedard, on his part, liked the tempo in Sörensen's first training.
Everyone was sweating properly, worked really hard, and that's how we want to play, said the star center.
Anders Sörensen has previously been the head coach for Chicago's farm team Rockford since November 2021.
