"There has been an incident related to the consumption of alcohol," says the Swedish Armed Forces, according to the newspaper.
Around 550 Swedish soldiers from the South Scanian Regiment, P7, are on site in Latvia to participate in NATO's multinational brigade. However, during a leave of absence over the weekend, a number of the Swedish soldiers broke the Swedish Armed Forces' rules.
"They have thus broken the unit's code of conduct. Want to be clear that NO laws have been broken," writes Communications Chief Marcus Nilsson to Aftonbladet.
The incident has been investigated by officers with the support of, among others, military police.
The unit has drawn lessons and leaves of absence are now given more restrictively, according to the defense.
