The European music market grew by 9.1 percent to 5.7 billion euro last year – more than twice as fast as in the USA. Paid streaming accounts for the largest part of the growth.

Swedish music export increased by 18 percent in 2024, while growth in the domestic market was strong.

The combination of innovative companies, broad music education and a long tradition of successful artists is highlighted in the report as key factors.

”The successes of Swedish music export are however no self-playing piano. It needs to be supported and nurtured. The industry is working hard together with the government to ensure that the fantastic history of Swedish music continues”, writes Ludvig Werner, CEO of Ifpi Sweden, in a comment on the report.
