The Nordic Museum and the Swedish Museums of Maritime, Transport and Defence History, SMMTF, previously initiated a pilot project to digitise unique maritime images from the Maritime Museum.

Now the collaboration is being extended and broadened to also include historical images of shipping, defence and railways.

"Cultural heritage is the backbone of our common memory. Through digitisation, we can both preserve and make available the material that tells and bears witness to Sweden's history," says Sara Ellenius, project manager at the Nordic Museum, in a press release.
