A man who previously worked for the Swedish military in Afghanistan has been murdered by the Taliban, reports Ekot and TV4.
Sources for the two media outlets state that the man was murdered in early June in northern Afghanistan. According to Ekot, the man served as a guard chief for the Swedish ISAF force in Afghanistan between 2004 and 2007.
I am afraid that this is the first in a series of such events, says Swedish Afghanistan veteran Björn Blanck to Ekot.
Since the Taliban took power in 2021, 2,000 people have been evacuated by Sweden – most of them Afghan citizens. At the same time, 50 people who have worked for the Swedish defense force are still left in the country.
